What is the Kingdom of Heaven?
The Kingdom of heaven is an entry point where you come under the rule and reign of God. It’s where you trade the things of fending for yourself and the treasures of this world in exchange for the treasures of God. But you have to make that choice.
How to Enter the Kingdom
Jesus said, “If you will enter the Kingdom of God, you will understand My provision. You will understand My ways.” Jesus gave us these identifying marks of what it means to be a part of the Kingdom of God.
Kingdom mysteries are only revealed to those desiring to enter the Kingdom. These mysteries are not revealed to people only wanting to know about the Kingdom just to pick up some fruit off the ground and not to people only wanting to glean a few things.
The mysteries are revealed to people wanting to enter the Kingdom and become Kingdom people. So what are some identifying marks of Kingdom people?
- Discover the Value of the KingdomThe Kingdom of God is revealed to people who discover the value of the Kingdom. I want you to see the precious value of what it means to be involved in the Kingdom of God.The Kingdom doesn’t mean only serving here or serving there. Instead, it’s about a genuine, authentic relationship without pretense. It’s saying, “Lord, I have one life to live on this earth and it’ll soon be over. I want to do this life right.” Jesus gives us a word picture for comparison to help us see the value of gaining God’s Kingdom.“‘The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid; and from joy over it, he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field’” (Matt. 13:44).
The Kingdom is like a man who sees a plot of land for sale. He realizes the acreage is very valuable, so he quickly goes and sells everything he owns in order to buy that field. He knows that the field he buys will produce a thousand times more than anything he’s sold to buy the land.
It’s like God saying to us, “Do you understand how valuable My Kingdom really is?” Enter the Kingdom of God and become a part of it. See the value of the Kingdom and see the relationship you can have with the Lord. Everything else must become subservient to the Kingdom. The Kingdom of God is that precious.
The people of the Kingdom of God are people who understand that they graduate into the things of the Kingdom of God. They are people who don’t graduate to just a religion, but they:
- Graduate to a Proven FaithA proven faith produces virtue, character, longsuffering and patience, righteousness and loving God, overcoming the unwillingness to forgive and the ability to overlook someone else’s weakness instead of taking advantage of them. Whatever faith produces is what the Bible calls a proven faith. It’s a faith that’s even more precious than gold. These things of the Kingdom are extremely valuable and they make up the people of the Kingdom. It’s all about a proven faith, not just having a faith.“In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Pet. 1:6-7).
God is saying, “What’s more precious than gold?” Is it your faith? No, it’s the proof of your faith.
The third identifying mark of a Kingdom person is someone:
- Genuinely Born AgainBeing born again doesn’t only mean your heart, your life or the consequences of something you did get repaired. Being born again means I die to the old and die more than once. It’s not just God repairing this and taking away the consequences of that. He’s not taking away the bad results of you messing up here and there while your heart stays the same. He doesn’t want to just remove the consequences of your failures and your sins. He wants to give you a whole new life! That’s why the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” God wants to give you a new slate, a whole new life.
Understand the precious value of the Kingdom of God and how the proof of your faith is what makes the Kingdom precious. Understand what makes you valuable. When we take care of the dying, He’ll take care of the miracle. When we do this, then we’re identified as people of the Kingdom.
